Family Law Review Silences Victims

Posted by Pauline Hanson's Please Explain on Monday, February 19, 2018

As you are all aware, One Nation successfully lobbied the Turnbull Government to conduct a review of the Family Law System.

Reading the Terms of Reference and seeking clarification on when the public can make their submissions, I discovered an alarming note that any correspondence with the Australian Law Reform Commission will be subject to Freedom of Information requests. With this said, please ensure you seek legal advice before making a submission.

I’m telling you right now, I’m not happy with this and I will be taking the matter up personally with the Attorney General, Christian Porter.

A lot of you have harrowing stories that deserve a hearing, but with no immunity I caution anyone who may wish to make a submission that under the current terms it could bite you on the bum if you’re not careful.

I’ll keep you informed once my discussion with the Attorney General has taken place.
