Extend the Royal Commission

Extend the Royal Commission | Question Time

I wrote to the Prime Minister on 23 July 2018 with a request to extend the time and terms of reference of the Royal Commission into the Banks to include receivers, managers and liquidators. The Prime Minister’s response was that the Royal Commission is independent from government and the manner in which the royal commissioner operates is a matter for the commissioner…pretty weak stuff. So today I demanded to know why the Government was refusing to show leadership, take responsibility and do everything in its power to expand the Banking Royal Commission and why only four farmers have been granted the opportunity to speak before the commission. What did you make of the Government's response?
